This is as simple as it gets. One speedlight, one reflector. The speedlight I used was the Voking VK430. Picked it up on sale for 40.00 dollars. Picked up the 5in1 reflector on sale also. It was a two for one deal and I think I got it for a little over 50.00 dollars. I did use the Westcott X-Drop system with the Westcott Glyn Dewis backdrop, but this could have been shot on a white wall and the background could have been a dropped in texture. The editing was done using Photoshop and Sean Archer’s Portrait actions.
This time I shot a bare flash into the reflector. I will tell you that I was surprised by the results. I got good catchlights in the eyes and a pretty decent Rembrandt lighting on the face producing a fairly dramatic portrait. Below you will find the SOOC and the edited photo.
